PACE adopts resolution for European policy on diasporas

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution entitled "European policy on diasporas."

According to the French Bureau of Report, the document states that the strengthening of diaspora policy will open up great opportunities for the countries' economic, social and cultural development. The associations that form a diaspora enrich the cultural diversity of countries and create favorable conditions for the development of economic and cultural ties.

PACE recommends taking concrete measures at the state, regional and international levels to strengthen the diaspora activities and realize their full potential. The recommendations include establishing dialogues with association leaders, creating national mechanisms and institutions to ensure the participation and cooperation of the diasporas, developing an action plan to mobilize their networks, etc.

The resolution called on the Council of Europe member states to include an action plan in their diaspora policies to strengthen the integration of members of the diaspora organizations into the country where they live.
