Martyred Azerbaijani journalists commemorated in US

The memory of AzTV operator Siraj Abishov and AZERTAC employee Maharram Ibrahimov killed by a landmine in the Kalbajar region on June 4 has been commemorated in the US state of North Carolina.

The local Bureau of Report informs that an exhibition of photos featuring heroic journalists, and Armenia's occupation policy, opened at the memorial service at Moore Square Park near the Capitol in central Raleigh.

Azerbaijanis living in North Carolina and the local community members attended the memorial service.

The commemoration ceremony initiated by the head of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization, Doctor of Information Technology Adika Igbal, and supported by the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyred journalists. The event participants placed the tricolor Azerbaijani flag and carnations before their photos and lit candles.

The commemoration ceremony also attracted the attention of the local population, who approached our compatriots and asked about what happened. In turn, Azerbaijanis living there said that Armenia refused to hand over the map of mined territories in the Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia for almost 30 years, which leads to deaths among civilians.

The exhibition monitored by the city police during the day was also on the agenda of the local media. They broadcasted the news about our martyred journalists.
