Larisa Svechin: Azerbaijan has been a place uniting various civilizations throughout history

Events dated to November 8 - Victory Day and November 9 - Day of State Flag have been held in Miami, Florida.

Report's American bureau informs that the event organized by the Florida-Azerbaijan Society with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, was attended by State Committee chairman Fuad Muradov, Turkey's Consul General in Miami Burc Jeylan, employees of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Washington Mahmud Mahmudov, Toghrul Aliyev, mayor of Florida's Sunny Isles Beach Larisa Svechin, representatives of city administration Chris Russo, Diana Goldman, Alex Lama, as well as active members of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Jewish communities of Florida.

A film dedicated to Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Karabakh War was demonstrated at the event.

Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Larisa Svechin said she always watched the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict with great concern and was happy to hear that hostilities were over. She congratulated the Azerbaijani community and noted that the film reflects how wonderful Azerbaijan is. She said she knew that Azerbaijan had been a place uniting various civilizations throughout history. Svechin added that Azerbaijan is also a country where the atmosphere of national and cultural diversity formed throughout centuries, where multiple nationalities live in peace, accord, and mutual understanding. She expressed her pride that there is an Azerbaijani community in the city she heads.
