House of Azerbaijan opened in Turkey’s Igdir

The opening ceremony of the House of Azerbaijan was held in the Turkish city of Igdir.

Report has learnt from the State Committee for Work with Diaspora that the event was organized jointly by the State Committee and the Igdir Association for the Promotion of the Azerbaijani Language, History and Culture.

The ceremony began with the performance of the national anthems of Turkey and Azerbaijan. The memory of the martyrs of Karabakh and the entire Turkic world was honored with a minute of silence.

The ceremony was attended by Igdir Governor H. Engin Sariibrahim; First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora Valeh Hajiyev; Parliamentarians of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey - Samil Ayrim and Yasar Karadag, Consul General of Turkey in Nakhchivan Mehmet Emin Kiraz, Rector of the Igdir University of Hakki Alma; the head of Igdir security service, Oguzhan Yonca, Igdir Gendarmerie Chief Nejdet Karaca, members of the Azerbaijani community and representatives of the local community.

During the speeches, it was noted that the historical victory of Azerbaijan in the patriotic war with the political and moral support of Turkey opened a new glorious page in the history of the statehood of the entire Turkic world.

The participants of the event wished success in the work of the House of Azerbaijan in Igdir. It was emphasized that this place will become home not only for Azerbaijanis living in Igdir and adjacent cities but also for all Azerbaijanis. First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Valeh Hajiyev presented the medal “For excellence in the work of the diaspora” to the head of the Azerbaijan House Association in Igdir, writer and journalist Sardar Unsal.

The ceremony ended with fireworks.
