Diaspora activist: EP's resolution against Azerbaijan stems from biased position

The resolution adopted by the European Parliament against Azerbaijan on October 24, 2024, is a unilateral step that contradicts international law norms and lacks objectivity, reads a protest statement by Zaur Aliyev, chairman of the European Azerbaijan Center (EAC) operating in Münster, Germany, Report informs.

The statement indicated that the non-objective approach underlying the resolution adopted in the EP causes concern not only for Azerbaijan but for all sovereign countries: "It was emphasized that Azerbaijan's liberation of its territories from occupation complies with the requirements of international law."

The document further expressed regret about the lack of any objective position regarding Armenia's mine terrorism during its occupation of Azerbaijani territories, the destruction of cultural and historical heritage, as well as the fate of four thousand missing Azerbaijanis:

"The fact that the displacement of nearly one million Azerbaijanis as refugees and internally displaced persons over 30 years and the violation of their fundamental rights remained out of focus once again confirms that this resolution stems from a unilateral, biased position."
