British gov't reacts to Azerbaijanis' protests on Khankandi-Lachin road

The British Government responded to the letter of Farida Panahova, the chairperson of the Society of British Azerbaijanis, regarding the damage caused by Armenia to the ecosystem in the territory of Azerbaijan, Report informs via the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.

The letter of the Directorate of Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the UK Office of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development addressed to Farida Panahova reads:

"Dear Farida Panahova,

Thank you for your email of 14 December to the leader of the House of Commons about Azerbaijan's ecosystem. The Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate has been asked to respond.

The UK Government is aware of the concerns of the Azerbaijani Government and people regarding the environmental situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The UK Government takes its commitment to environmental protection seriously and raises its concerns, where appropriate, with the relevant Government.

The UK Government has encouraged Armenia and Azerbaijan to engage in dialogue to secure a peaceful and sustainable settlement to the tensions between them, most recently at the UN Security Council on 20 December. We will continue to engage with both parties to settle all outstanding matters between them."
