A series of protest actions were held in Hague, Netherlands on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Report.
The protests were supported by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, organized by the European Azerbaijani Women's Union Motherland, and the Congress of Benelux Azerbaijanis in front of the Dutch Parliament and the Armenian embassy in Hague. The Azerbaijani-Dutch Land of Fire Society also took part in the protest.
During the protests, which lasted more than three hours, posters reading "Justice for Khojaly!" were displayed and the anniversaries of the Khojaly genocide were shown in numbers (from 1 to 30). As white is a symbol of mourning and protest in the Netherlands, the protesters demanded that the Dutch parliament give a legal and political assessment of the Khojaly genocide. Outside the Armenian embassy, the protesters drew attention to the fact that the Khojaly genocide was a crime against humanity.
In addition, the Azerbaijani community once again signed a petition calling for the recognition of the Khojaly genocide and addressed it to the Dutch parliament and relevant government agencies.
The actions, initiated by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva since 2008, take place as part of an international propaganda campaign "Justice for Khojaly!".
