Azerbaijani youth protest against Georgian parliament

The youth of the Azerbaijani community in Georgia has expressed severe dissatisfaction with the establishment of the Scientific Advisory Council on National Minorities under the Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs in the country's parliament.

According to the local bureau of Report, the "Salam" platform launched a campaign "I'm not a diaspora !!!" on Facebook yesterday.

As part of the campaign, young people are sharing on the social network with the hashtag #I'm_not_a diaspora (# მე_დიასპორა_არ_ვარ).

Azerbaijani youth said that the council's establishment under the Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs clearly shows that both the Georgian parliament and the state consider national minorities as a diaspora. According to them, such steps violate the idea of civil equality and integration in the country.

Along with the youth represented on the "Salam" platform, Azerbaijani public activists also joined the campaign. Several members of the Georgian public also supported the campaign.

The participants and supporters of the campaign "I am not a diaspora !!!" are planning to hold a rally near the legislature today to protest against the parliament.
