The Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA), which operates in the USA, held a holiday event dedicated to December 31 - The Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year, Report informs via the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The event's moderators, young activists of ASA, Tansu Suleymanli and Ravan Gasimzade, spoke about the importance of growing up in the United States with a sense of attachment to their historical homeland.
Speaking at the event, the head of ASA, Tomris Azeri, congratulated Azerbaijanis on the occasion of the upcoming holiday. She said that the Day of Solidarity demonstrates the world Azerbaijanis' respect for their national values:
"This is the day when all Azerbaijanis of the world gather under a single flag - the proud tricolor flag of Azerbaijan. This special holiday was founded and officially celebrated by the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern state of Azerbaijan, an outstanding statesman."
It was noted that in the XXI century, the importance of this significant day has increased, and currently, the Azerbaijanis of the world represent the victorious state and people of Azerbaijan.
"We are very proud of our bright, talented young people who take great interest in, guide and teach the children in our organization. The Azerbaijan Society of America congratulates all Azerbaijanis living in different countries of the world, we wish Azerbaijan eternal freedom, independence and prosperity. Happy New Year everyone!"
New York University researcher Isa Jafarov and ADA University graduate Suad Muradov acted as Santa Claus and his assistant, entertained the young children of Azerbaijanis and gave them gifts.
