The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has organized a virtual concert on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The show took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center without the audience due to the quarantine regime in the country amid COVID-19 pandemic, Report says.
Many famous artists, including Farhad Badalbayli, Murad Adigozelzade, Samir Jafarov, Alim Gasimov, Anvar Sadikhov, Sevda Alakbarzade, Fargana Gasimova, Sahib Pashazade, Shahriyar Imanov, opera singer Azer Zade, violinist Jeyla Seyidova, Natig Rhythm Group, and others have performed in the concert.
Moreover, several Azerbaijani musicians living abroad also joined the concert program virtually.
The concert conducted by honored artist Fuad Ibrahimov will feature works by Azerbaijani and world composers.
The event will be broadcast on Azerbaijani TV on May 10.
May 10 marks the 97th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev.
Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev was born on May 10, 1923, in Nakhchivan city of Azerbaijan.
In May-June 1993, when, as a result of extreme tension of the governmental crisis, the country was on the verge of civil war and loss of independence, the people of Azerbaijan demanded to bring to power Heydar Aliyev. The then leaders of Azerbaijan were obliged to invite Heydar Aliyev to Baku officially. On June 15, 1993, Heydar Aliyev was elected Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan, and on July 24 - on a resolution of the Milli Mejlis, he commenced to fulfill powers of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On October 3, 1993, as a result of nationwide voting, Heydar Aliyev was elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
