VI Int’l Music Festival 'Space of Mugam' to be held in Baku, Shusha

On the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, The Space of Mugam - VI International Music Festival will be held in the cities of Baku and Shusha on June 18-25, Report informs.

The registration of performers for the festival is open from May 1 to May 20.

Azerbaijan will be represented at the festival by the winners of the National Mugam Competition held on April 24-27 - winners of the first place in the “khanende” and “instrumental performance” categories Mirali Sarizade and Vagif Tahmazov.

The opening of the VI International Music Festival “Space of Mugam” will take place on June 18 at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. As part of the festival, which will last until June 25, various events will be organized in various cultural institutions of Baku, as well as on June 23 in the historical places of the city of Shusha - competitions, lectures, presentations, concerts, exhibitions and symposiums. On the last day of the festival, a 24-hour mugham marathon will take place.

The winners of the festival, who took the first, second and third places, as well as the winner of the Grand Prix, will be determined by an international jury. An awards ceremony and a concert will take place on June 25.

International mugham festivals have been held since 2009 on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The project is designed to once again demonstrate and preserve mugham in the context of world culture.
