Sheki added to UNESCO World Heritage List - UPDATED

The 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee continues in Baku.

Report informs that Azerbaijan’s nomination on Sheki was discussed at today’s session.

Conditions of Sheki Khan’s Palace and historic places were assessed and the nomination was adopted at the end of the discussions.

At the today’s meeting of the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, 10 nominations will be discussed.

At the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Baku on July 7, the Committee discussed the file on inclusion of the historic center of Sheki together with the Khan's Palace in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Report informs that after listening of the report of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the discussions kicked off.

The nomination ‘The historic center of Sheki together with the Khan's Palace’ presented by Azerbaijani government was discussed at the 41st session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Krakow, Poland in 2017.
