Sending UNESCO mission to liberated territories of Azerbaijan discussed in Uzbekistan

Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Anar Karimov, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan, met with leaders and representatives of several international organizations.

Report informs, citing the Ministry of Culture, that the sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan's cooperation with UNESCO in social sciences and humanities at a meeting with UNESCO Deputy Director-General for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos.

Speaking about the history of cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan, Anar Karimov said that the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva, had an exceptional contribution to the development of these relations. The minister also informed about the Baku Process international platform for intercultural dialogue initiated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2008. Anar Karimov also noted that the UN Secretary General's reports praised the Baku Process as a global platform that includes intercultural dialogue. The UN Alliance of Civilizations and UNESCO are the main partners of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue hosted by Baku. Recognized as a multicultural and tolerant country in the world, Azerbaijan sees its differences as its wealth.

It was also noted at the meeting that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the countries located along the historic Silk Road and considers the role of this ancient road in modern development essential.

Anar Karimov also informed about the international platform "Peace for Culture" put forward by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of the project.

The sides also exchanged views on sending a technical mission by UNESCO to the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan liberated from Armenian occupation.

Gender equality, cooperation in the field of youth, and collaboration with the Youth Forum organized by UNESCO were also discussed at the meeting.
