Number of visitors to Azerbaijan's reserves and cultural sites up 73% since start of year

In 2024, a total of 663,459 people visited Azerbaijan’s reserves and cultural institutions managed by the Reserve Management Center, with 460,331 of them being foreign nationals, Murad Aghabayli, Chairman of the Board of the Reserve Management Center, told journalists.

Report informs that, unlike previous years, 70% of visitors to reserves and cultural institutions in 2024 were foreigners. Compared to 2023, this represents a 48% increase in the number of foreign tourists.

"It is worth noting that schoolchildren, people with disabilities, war veterans, families of martyrs, and foreign tourists under 12 are entitled to free entry to these complexes, reserves, and museums. During 2024, a total of 107,213 people benefited from this right," he stated.

The chairman added that in the first three months of 2025, reserves and cultural sites — including Yanardag, the Ateshgah temple, Yukhari Bash, Kish, Basgal reserves, and the Diri Baba mausoleum — were visited by 123,761 foreign tourists and 30,430 local visitors who purchased tickets.

"These figures for the first quarter of 2025 indicate a 73% increase in total tourist numbers and a 99% increase in foreign visitors compared to the same period last year," he emphasized.
