Ministry: 87 new monuments discovered in liberated territories

"By monitoring the liberated areas, we are inspecting the condition of our monuments and cultural institutions," Azad Jafarli, acting head of the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, has said.

He noted that 303 historical and cultural monuments had been monitored so far.

"Most of them have been destroyed by Armenians. Moreover, we have discovered 87 new historical and architectural monuments and inspected 461 cultural institutions, museums, houses of culture, and libraries. However, this is not a full list of the registered monuments, and the process is underway. We have recorded about 1,000 monuments so far. The destruction of most of them indicates Armenia's policy of vandalism. They wanted to erase our cultural heritage from the area, to eliminate all the facts that these monuments belong to us," Jafarli said.
