Minister of Culture: ICESCO Director's visit to Azerbaijan is significant

The visit by the Director of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) to Azerbaijan bears a historic and significant character. Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said at a joint press conference, Report quotes.

"Its goal is to strengthen Azerbaijan's ties with this organization, move to a qualitatively new level, as well as familiarize with the situation in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan," the Minister said.

He also noted that Azerbaijan had always attached great importance to cooperation with ICESCO: "We periodically act as partners in many of the organization's activities. One of the main is the holding of a forum on intercultural dialogue in Baku."

Moreover, the Minister also recalled that during the visit to Azerbaijan, the organization's director and the delegation visited the territories liberated from the Armenian occupation.

"Acts of aggression and vandalism committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan and the occupation of our lands have always been the focus of ISESCO's attention and have been condemned by the organization. The delegation witnessed with their own eyes the vandalism that the Armenian side has done to the cultural and historical heritage of Azerbaijan. I hope that the organization will prepare reports on the result of the visit and submit them to the member states."
