Minister of Culture: Azerbaijan ready to accept UNESCO mission

"After the liberation of our occupied lands, under the influence of the Armenian Diaspora and their patrons, UNESCO demonstrated a biased attitude towards our country in sending a mission to the region, which disappointed us. However, the biased attitude continued though we stressed the importance of addressing security issues, especially the unfavorable demining process and the climatic conditions in the liberated areas at the initial stage of the mission. Certain security measures have already been taken in the liberated territories, and our country is ready to accept the UNESCO mission," Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said.

According to Report, the Minister stressed that an appeal was sent stating that they were ready to accept the mission, and a list of monuments and cultural institutions to be inspected in the liberated territories during the technical mission was presented: "I would also like to note that in the pre-war period, Azerbaijan repeatedly appealed to UNESCO to send a mission to the region - our occupied lands, but did not receive a positive response. However, despite all this, the Azerbaijani state will continue to cooperate with UNESCO to develop relations in order to convey its truth to the world in the interests of our country."
