Mexican exhibition dedicated to Day of Dead held in Baku

The Mexican Embassy in Azerbaijan has organized a Tzompantli exhibition in Baku, dedicated to Mexico's national holiday - Day of the Dead.

The Mexican Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rodrigo Labardini attended the event, Report informs.

The ambassador, welcoming the exhibition visitors, noted that the Day of the Dead is a very important holiday in Mexico.

"We perceive death differently. We believe that death is a part of life, and life is the beginning of death," the ambassador said.

In Mexico, on the Day of the Dead, people visit cemeteries to communicate with the souls of deceased relatives, build altars with photographs and relics on the graves, bring favorite drinks and food of the dead. All this is done to induce the deceased's soul to visit the world of the living. Many of those who celebrate the holiday believe that on the Day of the Dead, the souls of the dead can visit living relatives and friends.

The exhibition featured paintings by Azerbaijani artists, where they expressed their vision of this day.

The embassy awarded the paintings' authors with diplomas.
