Joint full-length film about Turkic world planned to be shot

A press conference was held regarding the film ‘Molla Nasraddin: A Friend of Difficult Days’ within the framework of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue on May 2, Report informs.

At the press conference, Sultan Raev, the general secretary of TURKSOY, the film's screenwriter and director, People's Artist Vagif Mustafayev, and producer Zaur Darabzade answered the questions of media representatives.

Darabzadeh is the chairman of the supervisory board of the CineMastercard (CinemaPlus) cinema chain.

Sultan Raev mentioned that the decision to make a film about Molla Nasraddin, the common folklore hero of the Turkic world, was made at the 40th meeting of the TURKSOY Standing Council held in Shusha in October 2023: "The screenplay will be created with the support of the ministries of culture of the member countries of the organization and TURKSOY."

Vagif Mustafayev pointed out that the joint film will be shot in Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The biggest responsibility is to give all our efforts and be able to please the audience."

Zaur Darabzade said that the shooting of the film will start in August of this year. The 100-minute film is divided into parts, by being shot in each of the Turkish republics. One of the famous actors of Türkiye is planned to play the lead role. Filming will begin in August 2024 and be released to the public in 2025.
