The opening of an event on the theme “Dragon and Spring Festival. Chinese New Year Festival” took place in Baku, Report informs.
The festival is organized by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and the Confucius Institute at the Azerbaijan University of Languages with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan.
At the opening, the children’s department of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum presented a shadow theater performance and master classes on weaving dragon patterns on carpets.
As part of the festival, which will last until January 28, master classes will also be held on the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, calligraphy (painting cards with hieroglyphs), wushu, kung fu, etc.
The event “Dragon and Spring Festival. Chinese New Year Festival” will be another contribution to the development of cultural relations between Azerbaijan and China.
The date of the Chinese New Year depends on the lunar cycles - the beginning of the new year falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. In 2024, Chinese New Year will occur on February 10.
