Ukrainian director Mstislav Chernov's documentary “20 days in Mariupol” was screened in Baku, Report informs.

The event was jointly organized by the embassies of Ukraine and the United States in Azerbaijan.

“Today we are participating in an event that highlights all the horrors of war. I want to thank everyone who joined us. Special thanks to the US ambassador for his initiative in organizing this event. As you know, my country is going through very difficult times. For Ukrainians, every day, every minute, there is a struggle for the life, existence and future of children,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladislav Kanevsky said at the opening of the event.

According to him, the documentary about Mariupol reflects only a small part of the consequences of the war.

In turn, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mark Libby expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

“I am grateful to our Azerbaijani hosts for the significant humanitarian assistance Azerbaijan has given to the people of Ukraine. And I am grateful to all of you from other countries who have supported Ukraine in its time of greatest need. Today, we affirm that commitment to stand with the freedom-loving people of Ukraine, whose symbol, whose blue and gold flag, waves as a symbol of courage and unity,” Libby said.
