“By order of President Ilham Aliyev, 2021 was declared the ‘Year of Nizami Ganjavi.’ It is gratifying that the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi is celebrated at a special time - Azerbaijan liberated the territories that had been under Armenian occupation for almost 30 years,” Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov said, Report informs.
Ahmadov noted that Nizami Ganjavi is one of the symbols of Azerbaijan, and his creative activity has always been associated with Azerbaijan:
“Every citizen of Azerbaijan is proud of him. There are streets, schools named after Nizami Ganjavi. It suggests that Nizami Ganjavi was directly connected with Azerbaijan. The International Nizami Ganjavi Forum, held in Baku, shows that the neighboring countries of Azerbaijan also display attention to the genius poet and thinker. It is an indicator of respect for the brilliant representative of the Azerbaijani people.”
