Deputy minister: Azerbaijan is a country that experienced armed conflict’s devastating impact on cultural heritage

Azerbaijan is a country that has directly experienced the devastating impact of armed conflict on cultural heritage, Deputy Minister of Culture, Saadat Yusifova, stated, Report informs.

She made the remark at the 1st Islamic World Cultural Forum titled "Protection and Revival of Cultural Heritage in the Post-Conflict Period," held in Shusha on April 17.

Yusifova noted that today's forum serves as a call to action: "The forum will focus on practical strategies, joint cooperation, and the role of collaboration within the Islamic world in protecting the rich and diverse cultural heritage endangered by conflict."

The deputy minister further stated that the Islamic world would unite at the event to assess the extent of damage to cultural heritage caused by conflicts, strengthen efforts to safeguard affected cultural sites, and ensure the preservation of history, art, and identity for future generations:

"The forum will also discuss sharing best practices in the protection, restoration, and revitalization of cultural heritage, promoting stronger legal frameworks for protecting heritage in conflict situations, and developing sustainable strategies for future generations."
