Baku hosts presentation of collection of national clothes “Karabakh”

The International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in Baku has hosted a presentation of the collection of national clothes “Karabakh,” prepared by famous Azerbaijani fashion designer Gulnara Khalilova, Report informs.

The event was attended by officials, ambassadors accredited in Azerbaijan, heads and representatives of international organizations, culture and art workers.

Opening the event, President of International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Efendiyeva noted that this presentation is timed to coincide with the date of the Great Victory. The president of the Foundation also stressed that Turkey marks the 98th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, and congratulated the Turkish state and people in the person of Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci. Gunay Efendiyeva also congratulated Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan Kairat Osmanaliev on the presentation of his credentials to the president of Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future activities.

Gunay Efendiyeva noted that the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation always supports projects reflecting the cultural and spiritual values ​​of the Turkic world.

Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Culture Sevda Mammadaliyeva, speaking at the event, said that the presentation of the collection on a historic day carries a symbolic meaning. She noted that a year ago, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, lands that had been under occupation for many years were liberated, and a new page was opened in the history of Karabakh.

In her speech, Sevda Mammadaliyeva noted that construction work is underway in Shusha and other regions of Karabakh, large-scale projects are being implemented, and along with the restoration of territories that had been vandalized for many years, cultural events are being organized. Emphasizing the special place of national costumes in the rich cultural heritage of Karabakh, Sevda Mammadaliyeva noted that clothing is closely related to the culture of each nation. It embodies folk traditions, worldview, creativity and national thinking. Since ancient times, Azerbaijani costumes and kelaghayi (a traditional Azerbaijani women’s headgear) have been distinguished by their bright colors.

Each sample of the collection bears the name of one of 12 cities of Karabakh (Agdam, Agdere, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavend, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Lachin, Shusha and Zangilan).
