Baku celebrates 8th International Yoga Day

The Embassy of India has organized a yoga session in Baku dedicated to the 8th International Yoga Day, Report informs.

Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bawitlung Vanlalvawna has greeted the guests before the session.

“In recent years, yoga has become very popular among people. I thank the head of the India-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Nagifa Hamzayeva for participating in today’s session. The main motive of today’s session is yoga for humanity and prosperity,” the ambassador said, noting that June 21 meeting is especially important for him, because in a couple of weeks he leaves Azerbaijan.

Yoga session was held by teacher Kanan Mammadov.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution, initiated by India and supported by 117 countries, declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day.
