Azerbaijani cultural delegation, spearheaded by Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov, conducted pivotal meetings with UNESCO’s top officials at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan.
On March 21, productive dialogues took place with Simona Miculescu, President of the UNESCO General Conference, and Vera Lacoeuilhe, Chair of the Executive Board, focusing on Azerbaijan’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage at various levels.
Subsequent discussions on March 22 with Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, and Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah, Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations, centered on the ongoing cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan.
The restoration of historical and cultural monuments in recently liberated territories of Azerbaijan was emphasized, alongside efforts to address the damages inflicted upon cultural heritage during the occupation.
During the convened sessions, the agenda included a focus on the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which is scheduled to take place in Baku.
