Azerbaijan, Turkey seek inclusion of balaban on UNESCO's Heritage List

Turkey has applied for the registration of four elements as part of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Report says, citing the Daily Sabah.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, one of them is national, while the other three are multinational.

In the form of multinational applications, the tea culture as a symbol of identity, hospitality, and social interaction; mey/Balaban wind instrument craftsmanship, and the art of performance in partnership with Azerbaijan and moderated by Turkey.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan have jointly proposed the tradition of telling jokes by Seljuk satirist Nasreddin Hodja.
