Baku. 16 November. REPORT.AZ / Azerbaijan will become a guest country of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum in 2020, according to the joint statement signed today by the ministries of culture of Russia and Azerbaijan.
Report informs citing RIA Novosti that Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky and Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev took part in the signing.
"Azerbaijan is our good partner in all spheres of life. We are very pleased with the initiative taken by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan becomes a guest country of the St. Petersburg forum in 2020, " Golodets said.
Medinsky added that Russia will be glad to see Azerbaijan with all the diversity of culture and traditions of this country.
According to the statement, the countries, taking into account the historical closeness of the two states and the interest in the further development of mutual enrichment process of Russian and Azerbaijani cultures, confirmed the importance of cultural exchanges to achieve this goal. The parties will continue to strengthen ties and cooperation between professional art groups, theaters, libraries, circuses, museums and other cultural and art organizations of the two countries. In addition, they will promote closer exchanges in the field of all kinds of art, pay attention to traditional classical and modern art. The countries also plan to exchange information when writing theater programs, conducting research in certain areas, mutual exhibitions, training of specialists.
"The parties believe that Azerbaijan's participation as an honorary guest of the Saint-Petersburg international cultural forum is an important project of the Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in the sphere of culture and it evidences the friendship between the two countries," the statement reads.
