Azerbaijan submits report on state of monuments in liberated lands to UN

Azerbaijan has submitted a report on the state of monuments in the liberated lands to the UN, the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under Azerbaijan’s Culture Ministry told Report.

The fourth periodic report on Azerbaijan’s fulfillment of commitments undertaken under the UN International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights has been held online.

The head of the State Service Azad Jafarli attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Jafarli said that as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, Azerbaijan faced the destruction of the humanitarian, economic and cultural heritage, which is a great disaster.

He emphasized that most of the historical buildings and cultural heritage sites were razed to the ground as a result of occupation.
