Azerbaijan and ICESCO sign agreement to open regional office in Baku 

Today, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Anar Karimov met with the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Salim bin Mohammed al-Maliki, Report informs, citing the ministry.

Welcoming the guest, the Minister thanked him for participating in the international conference "Development of the post-conflict humanitarian agenda: sustainable development through the revival of the cultural environment" in Shusha.

ICESCO Director-General Salim bin Mohammed al-Maliki, in turn, thanked the Minister of Culture for the invitation, noting that relations between Azerbaijan and ICESCO are at a high level and developing steadily.

The sides stressed the importance of ICESCO's contribution to the unity and solidarity of the Islamic world. Anar Karimov praised the Secretary General's visit to Karabakh after our historic victory. He also stressed that the announcement of Shusha as the capital of the Turkic world in 2023 is a historical event.

At the end of the meeting, Azerbaijani Government and ICESCO signed an agreement on the opening of a regional office in Baku. According to the agreement, the regional office will strengthen the relations and cooperation between ICESCO and its member states.
