Artistic director of Azerbaijani Girls dance ensemble passes away

Uzbek dancer of Azerbaijani origin Kovkab Aliyeva has died, the Ministry of Culture told Report.

Aliyeva is currently buried in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Aliyeva was born in 1935 in the Iranian city of Mashhad. The dancer, who moved to Uzbekistan, graduated from the Tashkent State School of Choreography.

Later she worked in the famous orchestra of Botir Zokirov. She was a dancer in Oleg Lundstrem's variety orchestra. The dancer was a laureate of the "Uzbekistan is our common home" festivals in 2002 and 2005. She is the co-chair of the Mehrijon charity foundation in Uzbekistan.

Until now, she has been the artistic director of the Azerbaijani Girls dance ensemble at the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Uzbekistan.
Aliyeva is an honoured artist of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
