Armenian representatives prevented from politicizing UNESCO meeting

A delegation led by Azad Jafarli, head of the State Service of Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is visiting France.

The purpose of the visit was to attend the 14th meeting of the States Parties to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, which took place from November 29 to December 3, the 9th Meeting of the States Parties to the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention, and the 16th meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The events will include issues related to the implementation of the Hague Convention of 1954, areas of cooperation, the submission of national reports on the fulfillment of the Convention, as well as the implementation of the Second Protocol, the ratification and accession of new states, the submission of information on the Second Protocol and the appointment of Bureau members.

Azad Jafarli made a speech in the discussion of the report on the implementation of the Convention during the 14th meeting on November 29. Speaking about the importance of the Convention, he informed about the condition of the monuments in the liberated territories, noting the importance of the UNESCO Technical Mission in this regard.

During the meeting, in accordance with the provocative speeches of the Armenian side, adequate answers were given, and the inadmissibility of politicization of the meeting of the Armenian delegation was noted.

The delegation of the Ministry of Culture will also take part in the 9th meeting and the Committee meeting of the Second Protocol.
