Adil Karimli: Historical names of Azerbaijani villages in Armenia were completely changed

The Armenian government is engaged in falsifying the origin of Azerbaijani cultural heritage on its territory, Deputy Minister of Culture Adil Karimli said at the 9th Meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the TURKSOY Member States, Report informs.

He said that cultural monuments, mosques, monuments, madrassas, houses of prominent persons, which were the cultural heritage of the Turkic world, were subjected to Armenian vandalism during the nearly 30 years of occupation: “At the same time, the Armenian government is engaged in deliberately destroying traces of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis in its current territories, subjecting them to looting and destruction, as well as falsifying the origin of the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people.”

“Historical names of Azerbaijani villages have been completely changed, ancient toponyms have been replaced by Armenian names. With the policy of the Armenian government, the Blue Mosque, Gala Mosque, Shah Abbas Mosque, monuments, which are examples of cultural heritage, were systematically and purposefully destroyed in the territory of Western Azerbaijan, which is the historical land of Azerbaijan,” Karimli stressed.
