The presentation ceremony of the books "Shusha - the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. Bibliography" and "Khan Shushinsky. Bibliography" dedicated to the opening ceremony of the "Year of Shusha" was held at the National Library of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture Anar Karimov, Director of the National Library Karim Tahirov, MP Nizami Jafarov, People's Writer Elchin Afandiyev and other public figures.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Culture Anar Karimov noted that this year is very significant:
"We are glad to celebrate the 270th anniversary of Shusha in Shusha, after 28 years of longing. Shusha is the heart of Azerbaijan, a source of pride. At present, our goal and task are to restore the former appearance and spirit of Shusha. Therefore, an action plan is being prepared. The plan will include a list of events to be held."
Speaking about the new books published, the minister stressed that more than 60,000 books have been included in the fund so far within the "Let's go to Karabakh with a book" project: "These books will also be given to the fund."
Director of the National Library Karim Tahirov said that every year a large number of books, articles and collections are inherited by future generations:
"These books are also very important for future generations. Today, everyone is waiting in line to go to Shusha, to prostrate, to see that beauty. That is why we celebrate the 'Year of Shusha' with such pomp."
Nizami Jafarov stressed that the intellectual potential of Shusha will be more clearly understood in the future.
Then the director of the House Museum of Uzeyir Hajibayli, People's Artist Sardar Farajov noted that the importance of the published books will be known in the future.
Khan Shushinsky's daughter, head of the Khan Shushinsky Foundation Bayimkhanim Javanshirova-Verdiyeva expressed gratitude for commemorating her father.
