COP29's chief negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev has called for preparing a draft agreement on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) and presenting it in Baku, Report informs.
"At COP29, we are working closely with the NCQG contact group co-chairs Fiona Gilbert from Australia and Zaheer Fakir from South Africa. We are grateful to both of them for their diligent work and dedication throughout the year. We urge the co-chairs to prepare the first version of the draft document as early as possible at COP29 as a working basis for discussion for the first time in three years of the technical process," he said at COP29.
He noted that even in this form, this document is an important step that will help in discussing possible points of agreement, as well as identifying and addressing problems.
"However, the draft text requires further refinement. Many options remain that need to be worked out, and we expect to hear different opinions. Everyone will have an opportunity to express their position, and we want to hear the reaction of all participants," Rafiyev added.
