WHO director-general: Climate action may save millions of lives every year

Millions of people are suffering from soaring temperatures and drought, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a video message to the participants of the high-level meeting in Baku on the topic “Pathway to COP29 Sustainable & Resilient Future,” Report informs.

“Climate change is a public health challenge. Climate-related humanitarian emergencies are increasing. Climate change is contributing to the spread of diseases such as malaria,” the WHO chief said.

He noted that climate action may save millions of lives every year.
