Vugar Gulmammadov: Reducing climate change impact requires significant financial resources

The implementation of measures aimed at reducing the negative impact of climate change and increasing resilience requires significant financial resources, including budget allocations, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts, Vugar Gulmammadov, said at an event within the framework of COP29 in Baku.

Report informs that, according to him, this makes the participation of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) inevitable in the targeted use of these funds, as well as in ensuring transparency and accountability:

"It is no coincidence that climate activity is a priority topic of environmental audit for many SAIs that are aware of climate change risks. The Chamber of Accounts also pays special attention to issues arising from global challenges. In recent years, environmental issues, including some aspects of climate activity, have been covered by our performance audits."
