Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources to at least 40% by 2030, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Energy Umud Mahmudovich Mamadaminov said, Report informs.
Mamadaminov made the announcement at the Investment Forum on Energy Transition in Central Asia, organized within the framework of COP29 in Baku.
According to the deputy minister, Uzbekistan has taken certain steps and made commitments in recent years to reduce carbon emissions and develop the renewable energy sector.
"Transboundary countries have significant renewable energy resources. In this regard, combining efforts and cooperation is crucial," he noted.
