US to continue engaging in climate action, Biden's advisor says

The United States administration will undoubtedly continue participating in climate action efforts, and will persist in doing so in one capacity or another, stated John Podesta, Special Advisor to the US President for International Climate Policy, during a briefing for Azerbaijani journalists in response to a question from Report.

He reminded that the previous administration withdrew from the Paris Agreement.

"One of the first actions taken by the current president was to rejoin the agreement and establish a special structure for this purpose. He appointed my good friend, former Secretary of State John Kerry, as a special envoy to lead our efforts. This has led to a series of successful conferences of the parties. It is crucial for the United States to be a leader in this field," Podesta declared.

He emphasized that there is no doubt that even during the period when the US was outside the Paris Agreement, there was leadership within the United States, including at the subnational level, at the level of non-governmental organizations, and at the level of citizens who spoke out. "We are still in the game. We will continue along the path that President Obama outlined in Paris," he affirmed.
