UN official: Law enforcement should be more involved in fighting climate change

Law enforcement agencies should be more involved in combating climate change, primarily with environmental crimes, Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and Head of the Vienna Office, said at a high-level session on mobilizing law enforcement agencies in the fight against climate change.

Report quotes her as saying this will strengthen measures to prevent environmental crimes and other crimes that negatively impact the environment.

The UN representative highly appreciated the holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan.
