UAE official calls for urgent action against eco-crimes

Environmental crimes are increasing year by year, and this issue needs to be addressed, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, said at a high-level session "Mobilizing Law Enforcement in the Fight Against Climate Change."

According to him, climate change impact statistics reached record levels in 2023, with the global average temperature approaching 1.5 degrees.

"Forest fires release 8 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the air, which accounts for 20% of all atmospheric emissions. Working together on climate projects is fundamental. It is necessary to effectively combat environmental crimes," he stated.
