“We have already had several high-level meetings with Azerbaijan’s COP team and will continue to engage with the COP Presidency and other parties toward successful COP outcomes,” a source in the US Department of State said in response to Report’s inquiry.
According to the source, the US encourages Azerbaijan to chair the COP29 proceedings in a manner that advances critical climate goals, including the historic COP28 decisions to transition away from fossil fuels.
