Regulation and innovation are necessary for effective carbon dioxide capture from the atmosphere, Southern Company Vice President Mark Berry said at the event "Carbon Capture: Innovation for a Cleaner Future" within COP29, Report informs.
"Technological innovations play a key role in fulfilling commitments to achieve zero carbon emissions. It is various technological solutions that will help us achieve our goals, and carbon dioxide capture is one of them," Berry noted.
He reminded that Southern Company launched a research program on carbon capture back in 2006.
"In general, carbon capture requires technology and storage space," he noted.
