Youth empowerment needs to be expanded in climate change matters, Sara Gonzalez, Technical Director of the National Council on Climate Change of the Dominican Republic, said at a high-level roundtable on "Children, Youth and Climate Action" within COP29.
Report informs that, according to her, the participation of children and youth in decisions made within COP29 is important. "In this process, which started in China, a delegation consisting of our children participated. This was an innovation for the Dominican Republic. We talked specifically about children's rights, the impact of climate change on children and their rights," she said.
She noted that she also promoted the idea of including children in the official delegation. Gonzalez emphasized the importance of raising youth awareness and developing professionals among them.
