The World Bank in 2023 tripled its investments in green digital technologies and will continue to support the implementation of the green digital declaration, World Bank Vice President for Digital Transformation Kim Sang-bu said at a high-level roundtable on green digital activities during COP29 in Baku, Report informs.
He emphasized the importance of digital technology transformation for climate measures specified in the green digital declaration and noted the high appreciation of this role by the COP29 presidency.
"The World Bank, as the largest multilateral financial organization supporting developing countries in climate initiatives, continues its work in digital transformation, focusing on principles of sustainability and inclusivity. For example, we are implementing projects to create emergency communication systems in college campuses, airports, and hospitals in Malawi. We intend to increase this support and will provide comprehensive assistance in implementing the green digital declaration," Kim added.
