Rick Duke: More investments needed to reduce methane emissions from organic waste

It is necessary to increase funding for climate change efforts in the organic waste sector, Rick Duke, Deputy Special Envoy for Climate at the US Department of State, said at a COP29 event titled "Reducing Methane Emissions from Organic Waste for Climate Action" held in Baku, Report informs.

"I would like to thank the COP29 Presidency for the initiative to sign the Declaration on Reducing Organic Waste (ROW). We support this declaration," Duke noted.

According to him, investments in the organic waste sector must be ensured to maximize methane reduction: "The United States is working together with the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and the United States Agency for International Development on reducing methane emissions from organic waste. We expect further progress in this area."
