Rhenus Group, Azerbaijan Railways to boost co-op on int’l corridors

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) and Germany's Rhenus Group are set to enhance their collaboration on international transport corridors, Report informs, citing ADY.

The discussions initiated on November 20 during COP29 continued today.

In a meeting with the delegation led by Tobias Bartz, CEO of Rhenus Group, Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, discussed the ongoing initiatives to modernize and electrify Azerbaijan's railway infrastructure, as well as increase the capacity of international corridors traversing the country.

The dialogue highlighted that one of the main challenges is reducing carbon emissions in cargo transportation along international corridors, with the digitalization of operations being crucial for this objective. In recent years, amidst the growing international freight traffic, ADY has been actively collaborating with partners to attract new cargo and diversify routes along the Middle Corridor.

Bartz noted that Rhenus Group provides international logistics services, manages projects in numerous countries, and offers solutions for complex logistics processes in the supply chain in both the public and private sectors. He expressed a keen interest in cooperating with ADY.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on cooperation opportunities and other issues of mutual interest.
