Parviz Shahbazov meets with Belgian counterpart and GWEA President

Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held meetings with Belgian Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten and German Wind Power Association (BWE) President Barbel Heidebroek, who were visiting Azerbaijan to attend COP29, Report informs, citing the Energy Ministry.

During the meeting with his Belgian counterpart, Shahbazov noted that COP29's energy initiatives, covering components necessary for energy transition, support tripling renewable energy sources and doubling energy efficiency.

The significance of the COP UAE-Azerbaijan-Brazil trio and the need to monitor adopted commitments were discussed. It was stated that energy corridors starting from the Caspian and Central Asia with Azerbaijan's participation will contribute to the transition to "green energy" and supply diversification. The prospects of these projects ensuring regional energy cooperation were addressed.

The meeting with the GWEA president also included an exchange of views on Azerbaijan's transformation to "green energy" and COP29 energy initiatives. Information was provided about wind energy potential in the Caspian Sea and on land, as well as ongoing projects.
