A parliamentary meeting within COP29 in Baku will be held on November 16-17, with 92 delegations from 66 countries and international organizations participating.
Report informs, citing Milli Majlis (Parliament), that the event is jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Parliament of Azerbaijan.
The meeting will be attended by approximately 330 representatives, including 167 parliamentarians, among them 12 speakers and vice-speakers.
The sessions within the meeting will focus on the real impacts of climate change and the role of parliaments in implementing nationally determined contributions. Participants will also address topics such as developing global climate finance architecture, increasing climate resilience, promoting comprehensive and equitable approaches, using technologies to combat climate change, and ensuring fair access to these technologies.
A final document will be adopted following the discussions. During the event, parliamentarians will also hold several bilateral meetings.
