A panel discussion on "Financing the Transformation of Agri-Food Systems" was held at COP29 in Baku, according to Report.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov noted that farmers need comprehensive support to adapt to climate change and ensure farm efficiency and sustainability. He stated that supporting farmers in implementing new technologies and climate-smart practices is crucial for global food security.
FAO Senior Natural Resources Officer in the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment Martial Bernoux, World Bank's Global Director for Agriculture and Food Shobha Shetty, and World Bank's Global Lead for Climate Smart Agriculture Bill Sutton and others shared their views on climate action planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for enhanced climate resilience, climate change adaptation and mitigation, the state of climate financing for agri-food systems, goals and opportunities, and agri-food system transformation with significant emission reductions.
Various issues were discussed during the event.
